SD Sake Week will be a week-long celebration for sake newbies and enthusiasts to come together to appreciate this beautiful beverage and celebrate Japanese culture!

This year Sake Week will start with the grand opening event at the Japanese Friendship Garden on Saturday October 1st, hosted by Setting Sun Sake as a celebration of community, craft, culture, and of course sake! Throughout the week, we want to invite local restaurants in San Diego to host sake tasting events and share the love of sake with our patrons. The grand finale will be a Sake tasting at the Ruocco Park on Saturday October 8th, hosted by Ayaka Ito, and the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana. We expect around 1000 participants and over 100 sake brands in the Sake tasting on October 8th.

October 8th - Sake tasting at Ruocco Park (Please reply to [email protected] for more into on this event)

There is no standard format or fee to participate in SD Sake Week because our mission is to celebrate sake and Japanese culture in San Diego. It is up to each restaurant to determine its level of involvement. It could be as small as a special Sake promotion or even hosting a multi-course chef's sake pairing dinner. We do hope to have 5-6 restaurants hosting chef's sake dinners throughout the week to best highlight the beauty of sake with your chef’s menu. Links to participating restaurants/breweries/etc will be connected to our social media so that every participant can see all the options. Look up "San Diego Sake Week 2022" on Facebook Events or follow us on Instagram: @sandiegosakeday.

For each participating restaurant, we will provide 1 unique ink stamp and a stack of stamp cards. You, SD Sake Week participants, will collect stamps by dining at different partnering restaurants and will use the stamp card to exchange raffle tickets at the grand finale's sake tasting.

Finally, we would like to thank you in advance and acknowledge all of your support and efforts to make this event possible for the sake community in San Diego. We look forward to procuring an amazing lineup of vendors to make this week of celebration memorable!
