This year, the West Covina Buddhist Temple will be hosting our Comeback Obon Festival on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in an abbreviated format. The day for honoring our past loved ones will commence with a Manto-e service at 6:30 p.m. in the ESGVJCC parking lot. Bon Odori, with Kishin Daiko on the drums, will follow the Manto-e service at 7:00 p.m.

Our food booth will be offering a scaled down menu. This year the temple will be offering a Chicken Teriyaki Plate and a new a la carte menu, which will include our Chicken Chow Mein.

This year we have decided not to ask members to sell the usual Obon raffle tickets. Instead, we ask you to generously donate to the temple. Your generous donations allow us to continue to operate as an independent temple, as well as allow the Sangha to interact and stay connected.

In addition, we wish to extend a cordial invitation to attend this year’s OBON and HATSUBON Service which will be observed on Sunday, July 16th, 2023 at 4:30 pm.

We thank you for your support and look forward to your help again this year. Your participation is needed to make our OBON FESTIVAL a huge success. We hope to see you, your family, and your friends at both the OBON Festival on June 24th and the OBON/HATSUBON Service on July 16th.
