Gardens for Peace Event (G4P) is a North American Japanese Garden Association (NAJGA) project that brings communities together in Japanese gardens to promote peace. 14 North American gardens have agreed to participate in G4P’s inaugural year in 2022. This year’s activities at participating gardens will take place during the month of August, the designated International Peace Month.

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is excited to be a part of Gardens for Peace. On August 6, join us for a raking of the karesansui (dry garden) and activities throughout the day, including a forest bathing experience, creating your own patterns in one of our tabletop Zen gardens, and an opportunity to enter our newly renovated tea house, have a cold drink and hear about tea ceremonies. The Fort Worth Japanese Society will be doing Japanese calligraphy and lead an activity with a wishing tree used during the Tanabata Festival in Japan. Guests promote peace by writing wishes on a ribbon, which will be hung on the wishing tree.

This event is included as part of regular Garden admission on Saturday, August 6, 2022, and will be held in the Japanese Garden. To view a Japanese Garden Map, visit here.
