Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room―My Heart is Dancing into the Universe is reopening at Crystal Bridges! (Exhibition - Permanent Collection)

Dates
Member Preview: July 21 to 26, 2021
Opens to Public beginning July 28, 2021

Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, we recommend that all visitors ages 2 and up wear a face covering while indoors. In addition, we require all staff to wear face coverings indoors, as well as guests who are not yet vaccinated. Masks will be available upon entry for those who do not have one.

Yayoi Kusama’s artwork, Infinity Mirrored Room-"My Heart is Dancing into the Universe (2018) is on view permanently at Crystal Bridges. The room itself is small and filled with mirrors and paper lanterns that have dots that change color. This effect makes it appear like the dots expand forever into the universe.

You can experience the Infinity Mirrored Room digitally through our 360 video. Drag the image to view in all directions. Enlarge the video to full-frame and select the 4K resolution option for a more immersive experience.

360 Video: "Infinity Mirrored Room" by Yayoi Kusama at Crystal Bridges

Yayoi Kusama is a contemporary artist who makes paintings, sculptures, performances, and installations. Dots are a common theme throughout her work-a pattern that she has utilized in her work since she was a child in an effort to escape trauma and anxiety. Crystal Bridges acquired another artwork of hers in 2018, Flowers that Bloom Now, which can be found on the South Lawn. A temporary installation of Narcissus Garden, another work by Kusama, is also on view near the South Lawn at the Crystal Pond.

Since the 1960s, Kusama has been creating Infinity Mirror Rooms that provoke a sense of boundlessness and transcendence through extreme repetition.
