NSU Odori is a group of UCLA undergraduate students who bring nihon buyo (æ—¥æœ¬èˆžè¸Š), or traditional Japanese dance, to the UCLA and broader Los Angeles communities. We learn and hone our art under the direction of Gankyo Nakamura, the first non-Japanese citizen to become a professional kabuki actor in the history of kabuki theater. On May 13th, NSU Odori will hold its third recital, Satsuki no Mai (çšæœˆã®èˆž): Dance of the Azalea, in Schoenberg Hall at UCLA from 1:00-3:00 PM. Satsuki no Mai will feature several dances ranging from classical to modern numbers, performed by UCLA student dancers along with Nakamura Gankyo.
