Online Workshop. Sunday, December 11, 11 am ET | Calculate your local time  Japan Society is partnering with the nonprofit organization TABLE FOR TWO USA to bring you this special program.

Join us and learn to create cute, edible Japanese food right in your own kitchen! Onigiri-Japanese rice balls-are a traditional comfort food made of steamed rice, and a delicious snack enjoyed by people of all ages in Japan. Filled with different ingredients and wrapped with nori (roasted seaweed), onigiri are easy to make and a fun snack the whole family can create! In this online workshop, families will learn about Japanese culture, healthy eating, and how to make and decorate onigiri. All participants will receive a special “Onigiri Action Kit” with ingredients and materials needed to make several types of Japanese rice balls. Join us online to learn and make onigiri together! For any questions, please contact [email protected] or (212) 715-1254.

About TABLE FOR TWO & Onigiri Action
TABLE FOR TWO USA is a nonprofit organization that addresses issues of hunger and health issues related to unhealthy eating. As a nonprofit organization which started in Japan and is expanding globally, TFT has started the innovative programs: “Onigiri Action”, “Wa-Shokuiku -Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!-“ and “#EdamameChamp,” featuring Japanese food culture.

Onigiri Action is an annual social good campaign organized by TFT. When photos of onigiri are posted on the campaign website or social media with #OnigiriAction, five school meals are donated to children in need around the world. TFT holds “Onigiri Action” to coincide with World Food Day with a goal to deliver 1 million meals to children every year. TFT started in Japan and features onigiri, which celebrates rice, one of Japan’s major agricultural products and highlights the tradition of making onigiri for loved ones. Enjoy your onigiri, and join us to help in Onigiri Action!
