Torikizoku Opens First U.S. Location in Torrance. Torikizoku, Japan’s yakitori chain with over 600 locations, has officially opened its first U.S. restaurant in Torrance, California. Known for its affordable, high-quality flame-grilled chicken skewers, the chain brings a taste of Japan’s izakaya culture to the South Bay.

Since its founding in Osaka in 1985, Torikizoku has become a household name in Japan, offering a variety of kushiyaki (skewered foods) alongside beer and sake in a lively dining atmosphere. The Torrance location features an extensive menu, including yakitori favorites like jumbo skewers, thigh, wings, meatballs, and heart, as well as non-chicken options like scallops, shrimp, and quail eggs. Complementing the skewers, diners can enjoy sides such as edamame, yaki onigiri, takoyaki, and karaage, all at a set price of $4 or $8 per plate.

The restaurant’s modern yet minimalist interior reflects its Japanese roots, with warm wood accents, a U-shaped bar, and a glass-enclosed kitchen where chefs grill kushiyaki over an open flame. The arrival of Torikizoku further solidifies Los Angeles as a destination for authentic Japanese dining, joining the ranks of other top yakitori spots like Shin Sen Gumi and Koshiji.

Torikizoku’s debut in the U.S. marks the beginning of an exciting new wave of Japanese restaurant expansions in Los Angeles.
