Lock 3 Park is a great place to go for many different events. The free concert series in the summer is incredibly, family friendly.

The Downtown Akron Sakura Festival is an annual event that celebrates the beauty of the cherry blossom trees that line the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in downtown Akron. The festival usually takes place in late April or early May when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and attract visitors from all over the region.

During the festival, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities and events, including live music performances, cultural demonstrations, food vendors, and more. The festival also features a parade of floats decorated with cherry blossom themes and a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

The cherry blossom trees, also known as sakura trees, were planted along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail as part of a beautification project to revitalize the downtown area. The trees were donated by the Japan-American Society of Northeast Ohio as a symbol of friendship and goodwill between Japan and the United States.

The Sakura Festival is a great way to experience the beauty and cultural significance of the cherry blossom trees in a festive and celebratory atmosphere. Whether you're a nature lover, culture enthusiast, or just looking for a fun way to spend a day in downtown Akron, the Sakura Festival is a must-see event.
