Go For Broke Monument Anniversary Virtual Tribute Event.  Join us as we honor the Japanese American soldiers of WWII. Show your support as a Monument Anniversary sponsor plus make a Veteran Floral Tribute and/or “Honor A Veteran” Social Media Tribute. 

On the first Saturday of June, Go For Broke National Education Center hosts an Anniversary Tribute Event at the Go For Broke Monument that is open to the public. The Center commemorates the anniversary of the Monument's dedication and holds a formal Anniversary Tribute to honor these brave men and women whose names are etched into the granite.

History
Since its dedication in 1999, the Go For Broke Monument has served as a powerful reminder of the challenges the Japanese American soldiers of World War II confronted and of sacrifices they made for their loved ones and their country.

Monument Facts
The Go For Broke Monument stands as a powerful tribute to the Japanese American soldiers of World War II.

These courageous individuals fought to serve their country and to prove their patriotism so that their families and future generations could live and work freely in the United States without fear of discrimination or racial prejudice.

The black granite monument is engraved with the names of more than 16,000 Japanese American men and women who served during the war. It includes the Japanese American soldiers who served in these military units during World War II in the European, Pacific, and China-Burma-India theaters.

* Military Intelligence Service
* 522nd Field Artillery Battalion
* 232nd Combat Engineer Company

This special tribute is free and open to the public! Located at Alameda and Temple streets in Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles.

Floral Dedication
Beautiful New Guinea Impatiens potted plants will be placed around the Monument on the morning of our anniversary celebration, each with the name of a veteran and his donor patron. At the conclusion of the program donors may pick up their potted plants. Proceeds go toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Go For Broke Monument, including granite polishing, landscaping, painting, monthly security system fees, and other general repairs.
