Japanese Friendship Garden Floating Laterns.  You will be able to create your own floating lantern and either take it home or watch it float down the stream.

This happens after paid admission to the Japanese Friendship Garden and a fee to dedicate a lantern, (you can write a name, draw a picture or whatever you choose and insert it into the lantern.  Then it is set in the stream to honor the person or persons you dedicated it to).  It takes place in the lower garden of the JFG.  The Buddhist Temple of San Diego's Sensei Kenji Akahoshi will preside over the floating of the lanterns.

Tōrō nagashi is a Japanese ceremony in which participants float paper lanterns down a stream; tōrō is a word for "lantern," while nagashi means "cruise" or "flow." This activity is traditionally performed on the final evening of the Bon Festival in the belief that it will help to guide the souls of the departed to the spirit world. - Wikipedia
