Keiro no Hi Festival. Keiro no Hi, or Respect for the Aged Day, is a Japanese holiday that honors and celebrates older adults. Keiro and Japanese American Cultural & Community Center are partnering once again to host the second annual Keiro no Hi Festival in Little Tokyo.

Since 2018, Keiro has hosted its Keiro no Hi Festival in Little Tokyo, at various community centers, and virtually. We are excited to announce that our 6th Annual Keiro no Hi Festival will be hosted on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). Join us for a day filled with live entertainment featuring local older adult performers, Quality of Life Classes featuring local subject matter experts, access to JANM exhibitions, food and more!

Registration
Registration Opens: Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
We are prioritizing registration for older adults 60 years old and older. Please note that this event will have a limited number of tickets, and participation will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is required to attend and includes attendance to this year’s festival, opportunities to participate in the various festival experiences, and receive a hosted bento lunch.

Complimentary Bus Transportation
Attendees will have the option to register for complimentary transportation to and from the festival. This year, bus riders can enjoy the entire day of festivities. Buses will pick up registered attendees from designated hubs across Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties.

NOTE: Buses will only accept attendees who have registered and received an email confirmation for complimentary transportation. If you did not select the complimentary transportation option during registration, you will not be allowed to ride the bus. You must present your transportation confirmation email on the day of the event to ride the bus.

Event Details
Here are a few exciting things we have in store for this year’s festival:

Entertainment & Music
Attendees will hear live music provided by local older adult performers to showcase their purpose that they have found in the music and arts. We hope you can feel energized from the various performances. Performers will be announced at a future date.

Food
There is no way that we can host a festival without providing food for all of our attendees! Keiro will provide a delicious bento for you to enjoy.

JANM Exhibitions
We invite all of our attendees to make the most out of their festival experience by browsing the various Japanese American National Museum exhibitions. And more! Additional details to be announced.

Transportation & Arriving

Public Parking
The Japanese American National Museum does not have a parking lot available for attendees who wish to drive themselves or carpool to this year’s festival. Please expect to pay for parking at one the many public parking lots throughout Little Tokyo which include, but are not limited to:

• Aiso Parking Garage (0.2 Miles from JANM),  Judge John Aiso St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
• Japanese Village Plaza (0.1 Miles from JANM), 115 S Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012
• Sho Tokyo (Joe’s Parking) (0.2 Miles from JANM), 350 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Note: Keiro will not be responsible for providing reimbursement of any parking or public transportation fees.

Metro
Festival attendees have the option to take Metro’s A and E Lines to and from the new Metro Regional Connector which is located across the street from the Japanese American National Museum. Please visit Metro’s website to plan for your trip.
