Samurai: Armor from the Collection of Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller.
Experience nearly nine centuries of Samurai history through 80 extraordinary objects, including full suits of armor, helmets, weaponry, and horse armor. Drawn from the renowned Barbier-Mueller collection, this exhibition showcases the artistry and culture of the samurai, from the Kamakura (1185-1333) to the Edo period (1603-1868). Alongside their reputation as warriors, samurai were also intellectuals, practicing calligraphy, poetry, and other disciplines. The exhibition highlights the duality of the samurai-both as fierce combatants and as refined patrons of art and culture.
