Wooster Square's Cherry Blossoms have been celebrated each spring since 1973, when 72 Yoshino Japanese Cherry Blossom Trees were planted by the New Haven Historic Commission in collaboration with the New Haven Parks Department and Wooster Square neighborhood residents. The Celebration attracts thousands to Wooster Square, and includes food vendors and local musicians.

National Geographic mentions our celebration in an article about cherry blossom peak times. And please check out the Blossom Blogger to plan your visit, as our Celebration does not always coincide with the blossoms’ peak viewing times.
