Hinamatsuri, or Girl's day, is celebrated on March 3rd. This year, however the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute will be having their Girl's day celebration on Saturday March 28th, 2015 from 2- 4pm in the upstairs GVJCI classrooms. For only $5.00 girls will receive furoshikis (knap sacks) and kanzashi (hair barrettes) that they can decorate and style themselves! This event is ideal for girls in elementary and middle schools. In addition to these awesome crafts, we will have a full doll display and kimonos for girls to try on (and a professional kimono dresser on hand!). Kimonos and other traditional Japanese garments and accessories will be available for purchase. Each girl will also be able to munch on some delicious hina arare (sweet rice puffs) and Pejoy chocolate (generously donated by Ezaki Glico USA Corporation).

To register visit our website at jci-gardena.org (quick and easy online payment is available), or call/ email us at (310) 324-6611 and [email protected]. Space is filling up! Make sure you register soon to not only learn about Hinamasturi, but to also enjoy and celebrate the girls in your lives!
