The Olympia Chapter of the JACL established around 1980 or 1981. It is a break away chapter that was once part of the Puyallup Valley Chapter of the JACL. It is mainly comprised of local community members and although our members are generally Japanese Americans and originally had a majority of our Issei and Nisei generations but our membership isn't just comprised of just Japanese Americans and our later generations has more Hapas or Nikkei, then other ethnic backgrounds.

Our mailing address is: Olympia Chapter, Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), PO Box 6246, Olympia, WA 98507-6246. As I mentioned before in an earlier message, we do not have a Japanese Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple in the area, the Olympia Chapter has taken the initiative to have an Obon festival in the Olympia area.

Our Pacific Northwest District, JACL office is located at 671 South Jackson Street, Suite 206, Seattle, WA 98104-2927. The District Director is Karen Yoshitomi and her office number is (206) 623-5088. Currently, the Olympia Chapter does not have a web site but there is a web site for the district. It's www.pnwjacl.org.
