The club's owner, Jamie Masada, built the Laugh Factory from the ground up. He came to the United States at the age of 14 armed with a little money and a dream of becoming a famous comic. Working odd jobs and saving every penny, Masada eventually opened his Laugh Factory in a tiny storefront on the famous Sunset Strip in 1979. As the club grew, so did its reputation.

Today the Laugh Factory is one of the best known comedy stages in the world and has been graced by such stars as Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, Paul Rodriguez, Dave Chappelle, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Jon Lovitz, Roseanne, and many, many more. The club has hosted television shows and films, as well as numerous Hollywood events.  The Laugh Factory prides itself on being a club that caters to up-and-coming comics and helps them to develop their talent rather than exploit it. To this day, Masada prefers not to name the who's who of comedy that frequent the club.  Instead, he offers them a safe haven to fine-tune their craft, much to the audience's delight.

Masada has also taken to mentoring and managing numerous comics as they come up through the ranks. Through the Laugh Factory Management Company, he has helped comics develop their acts as well as further their careers in television and film. He has produced several shows including the Fox Network stand-up show, Comic Strip Live.  He has developed a variety of successful shows for numerous networks and has produced his own radio show, The Laugh Factory Minute, that is broadcast to 240 markets and 19 million people daily through Clear Channel Radio Networks.

Besides the busy day-to-day tasks Masada oversees for his club and his management company, he also takes time to reach out into the community. For instance, he offers the use of his club to numerous charity organizations for benefits. His philanthropy is evident in the programs he runs each holiday season to feed those less fortunate in the Hollywood community.
