Godinez Fundamental High school is now in its second year, with 1540 students attending in grades nine, ten, and eleven. We will grow to more than 2100 students for the 2009-2010 school year, and probably maximize with more than 2400 students the following year. Our lottery registration has been completed for the coming year, and students will be called from our waiting list as additional openings arise. Parents may add their childrens names to this list at any time.

We are pleased with the progress of our students through the first year and a half. Our test scores were good last year, with our goal of performing even better this year. Our Academic Performance Index (API) last year was 743, compared with the state average of 703 for all high schools in California.

We are especially pleased that slightly more than 53% percent of our students earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the first semester this year, with many students earning an average of 4.5 or higher. Our students are well on the way to preparing successful resumes for college entrance and scholarship competition. We have multiple Advanced Placement (AP) classes in English Language, Spanish Language, European History, and United States History. Our AP offerings will expand over the next two years as our senior class becomes a reality.

One of our strengths is academic support for students, with tutoring available in each core subject Monday through Thursday, both before and after school. This is provided by an excellent faculty that spends many hours each week outside of the classroom assisting students.

We encourage students to become involved in extra-curricular activities, whether these activities are service clubs, academic teams, student leadership, athletics, or recreational activities. We are proud that our Girls Basketball Team finished in first place in the Orange Coast League and advanced to the CIF playoffs, along with several members of our wrestling team.

We welcome your interest in Godinez Fundamental High School, and would be pleased to answer any questions you might have.
