Artisans Fair Hosted by Nikkei Matsuri Foundation in San Jose's Japantown
San Jose, CA - September 18, 2023 - Nikkei Matsuri Foundation is proud to announce its much-anticipated 2nd Annual Artisans Fair, set to take place on Saturday, October 28th, at the San Jose Buddhist Betsuin Annex, located at 632 N Fifth Street in the heart of San Jose's Japantown. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and promises a vibrant showcase of local artisans, with a special emphasis on Japanese and Asian influences. Complementing the artistic offerings, JAMsj will provide an array of food for sale, ensuring that attendees can savor Japanese and Asian flavors throughout the day. Additionally, several artisanal food vendors will be on-site, offering their handcrafted products for purchase.

Jim Nagareda, a dedicated Nikkei Matsuri Foundation Board Member, expresses the organization's goals succinctly: "We hope to provide an event for our artisan community to showcase their talents and also for our community to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of San Jose Japantown. Come out and immerse yourself in our beloved community while also starting your holiday shopping in style."

Among the artisans participating in this year's event, Naomi Takata Shepherd of "6 Degrees of Hapa" shares her enthusiasm: "I'm excited to be a part of Nikkei Matsuri's Artisans Fair. It's always nice to catch up with community members, and it gives everyone a chance to get a little holiday shopping done too! I always have such a great time at Nikkei Matsuri's spring festival and am excited to be part of the 2nd Annual Artisans Fair."

About The Nikkei Matsuri Foundation
The Nikkei Matsuri Foundation, a dedicated non-profit organization, is on a mission to perpetuate the Japanese American experiences, cultural customs, and traditions. Renowned for hosting San Jose Japantown's beloved Nikkei Matsuri Festival since 1978, this springtime extravaganza showcases traditional Japanese cultural arts exhibits, performances, artisans, food, and community organizations. The foundation also supports the Japanese Friendship Garden and coordinates the Garden Clean-up volunteer program.

Events like the Artisans Fair and the Nikkei Matsuri Festival serve a larger purpose for the Foundation: expanding its scholarship programs. Notably, the Warren Hayashi Japanese Cultural Arts Grant benefits schools or organizations teaching cultural arts, while the Jimi Yamaichi Japanese Cultural Arts Scholarship recognizes outstanding high school juniors or seniors for their accomplishments in cultural arts.

The Nikkei Matsuri Foundation looks forward to a successful event on October 28th, where community members can gather and embark on holiday shopping with an Asian-themed twist.
