Southern California Japanese Surfing Contest 2025
The 37th Annual Southern California Japanese Surfing Contest returns on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the iconic Church Point in San Clemente. Open to surfers of all ages and skill levels-including beginners, kids, legends, and women-this community-focused event blends Japanese and American surf culture with friendly competition and vibrant tradition. All participants will receive a commemorative Stussy T-shirt, and divisions range from Mini Grom to All-Star. Hosted by the Southern California Surfing Association, this contest is one of the rare officially permitted events at Trestles, drawing passionate surfers from both California and Japan.

• First heats begin: 7:00 AM

• Mini Grom (10 and under)
• Grom (14 and under)
• Beginner (2 years or less experience)
• Men’s 45 and under
• Master (46 and over)
• Legend (55 and over)
• Longboard (all ages)

• All Star Division (All Nationalities)

Note: Age is determined by January 1, 2026.

Entry Fee
• $90 per class
• Kids’ classes: $50
