A Brief History of Miso-Dama (MISOMARU)
Miso-Dama dates back to Japan’s Sengoku period, Warring States period (15th-16th century), where it was used as a portable, nutritious food for soldiers on the battlefield. These dried miso balls were packed with essential vitamins and minerals, and could be eaten without cooking-simply eaten raw for energy, or dissolved in water to create a warm, nourishing miso soup.

MISOMARU honors this centuries-old tradition, hand-rolling each misodama with high-quality, sustainable ingredients like rice koji miso, kombu, katsuobushi (bonito flakes), and shiitake mushroom powder. Today, MISOMARU’s misodama offer a convenient, healthy alternative to instant soup mixes-perfect for busy days, picnics, or as a quick meal at home.
