Diamond Jubilee Community Halloween Costume Birthday Celebration for Rodney Kageyama in Little Tokyo (DTLA) on Saturday October 29, 2016 from 3 PM to 9 PM. Famed actor, comedian and Little Tokyo Ambassador Rodney Kageyama request that everyone know it's his 75th birthday on Saturday October 29, 2016 and invites the WORLD to come join in the celebration. This is a public community event and all are welcome to attend (even if you don't know Rodney.)

The Celebration will be held at Centenary UMC (300 S. Central Ave. LA CA 90013.) What to wear? This is a "Halloween Costume Party" please feel free to wear a costume. This is a community event, feel free to wear your organizational, temple or group happi coat. We are having a "Ondo" so feel free to wear yukata, kimono or jinbei. Or just come as you are, dress any way you like.

Food will be "potluck style." If you would like to help with food, feel free to bring food. Please do not feel obligated to bring food, your presence is of greater importance. The event will be jam packed with entertainment including a "open mic" for anyone who wishes to share their talent. Singers, musicians, dancers, etc. all welcome. Ondo Flash Mob throughout the entire event. The event will also have games and contests with prizes. Rodney asked, "could we have a raffle?" We told Rodney, "are you nuts??? This isn't a "Obon" or "Matsuri" but if that's what you want we will hold a few 50/50 raffles throughout the event This is a event you don't want to miss, it's going to be a off the hook super celebration for a great community

If you have any questions, if you wish to help with food or entertainment please contact Martha or Wesley Nishinaka at [email protected] or [email protected]. Or call (213) 359-7755. Everyone is encouraged to share this invitation with family and friends.

When Rodney asked me to announce to the WORLD his 75th birthday celebration he insisted we use a grandiose, sophisticated, ostentatious event title. Straight to Wikipedia on the internet and "Dodranscentennial Birthday Celebration" became a frontrunner for the event title. Dodranscentennial: Dodrans is a Latin contraction of de-quadrans which means "a whole unit less a quarter" (de means "from"; quadrans means "quarter". 75 years is a whole century less quarter century, or 75 = (100 - 25). Alternative Latin form of Dodranscentennial: Dodracentennial or Dequascentennial. A modern coined term for Dodranscentennial: Semisesquicentennial (Demisesquicentennial or Hemisesquicentennialis are other similar variants.) Anyone of these would suit Rodney's request and his personality. I must admit Rodney probably would prefer: "Sexagennial / Sexagenary" but this latin phrase is reserved for 60 years and not 75. However Sexagennial / Sexagenary does reference the Diamond Jubilee of monarchs and most of us know Rodney acts and behaves like a 60 year old "Queen." How about "Japanese???" All birthdays in Japan are important but Japan has several birthdays which are considered to have special meanings. Incidentally the 75th is not one of these "special meaning" birthdays. However, the seventy-seventh birthday is the occasion of kiju (喜寿), "happy age", because the kanji å–œ is written in a way similar to seven-ten-seven or seven-seven-seven in the sÅsho calligraphic style. In Japan the 77th birthday does have a special meaning, why do I bring this up? I don't know What I do know is Rodney will now be asking, "when can we start planning my "Kiju" Birthday Party?" Everyone please mark your calendar 2 years from Saturday October 29, 2016: Rodney Kageyama Little Tokyo Kiju Birthday Celebration. In the present we need you to mark your calendar for the Diamond Jubilee Community Halloween Costume Birthday Celebration for Rodney Kageyama on Saturday October 20, 2016 from 3 PM to 9 PM. Everyone is encouraged to share this invitation with family and friends.
