Descanso celebrates the 50th anniversary of its Japanese Garden with this family-friendly festival. New this year: Experience the ancient music and dance performed in the Imperial Court of Japan! Activities free to members except where noted.

Celebrate Japanese art and culture at this annual event set in our Japanese Garden on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14. Enjoy family-friendly activities like taiko drum performances and crafting. The Japanese Garden Celebration is included in the price of regular Descanso Gardens admission.
Ikebana Display | 9am - 5pm
View examples of ikebana, the art of flower arranging, from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.
Taiko Drummers | 11:30am & 1:30pm
Kishin Daiko drummers perform heart-pounding feats of percussion.
Crafting | 10am - 1pm
Create your own work of art inspired by the Japanese Garden.
