Orange County Buddhist Church (OCBC) will be commemorating the birth of the historical Buddha with a celebration of Japanese Culture at their Hanamatsuri (Flower) Festival. The two-day event will feature delicious food, games and prizes, handcrafted items for sale, and traditional Japanese entertainment and exhibits. 

Experience Japanese culture through live demonstrations by martial artists, musicians, dancers, and taiko drum performances by OCBC’s Daion and Seishun Taiko. Cultural displays include examples of rare Japanese artifacts and swords, bonsai, calligraphy, tea ceremony, doll making, and ikebana (flower arranging). 

In addition, the recently renovated Hondo (Main Hall) will be open for tours with opportunities for visitors to pour sweet tea on a statue of the infant Buddha placed atop a flower display.

Admission is FREE with ample parking at Magnolia High School on 2450 W. Ball Road in Anaheim. Shuttle service to and from the festival will be running throughout the festival.

Orange County Buddhist Church (OCBC) is a religious institution located in Orange County, California. OCBC holds regular religious services, meditation sessions, festivals, and ceremonies. Established in 1946, OCBC aims to foster a sense of community and spiritual growth among its members. The temple's teachings emphasize the significance of mindfulness, compassion, and gratitude in achieving spiritual awakening and living a meaningful life. 

Daion Taiko, formed in 1978, is one of the oldest Japanese-American Buddhist Taiko groups in the United States. Daion in Japanese means Great Sound of Enlightenment. The 75 member group ranges in age from 10 to adult. Many of its songs have been written by group members, blending traditional Japanese rhythms with contemporary western music to form its unique sound.

Orange County Buddhist Church OCBC Festival Event in Anaheim will host its annual Hanamatsuri flower festival event, a celebration of the birth of Buddha, with lot of food, music, games, crafts and cultural exhibits.

Two-day Japanese Festival event filled with Japanese culture. There will be demonstrations of aikido, kendo, karate, katana swords, bonsai, taiko drum performances and many other performances and exhibits.

Japanese Food will be a big part of the festivities. There will be chirashi sushi, makisushi, Spam musubis, chicken and beef teriyaki, teriyaki burgers, chow mein, wontons, udon, oden, grilled squid, Okinawa dango, Imagawayaki and other delicacies.

History of Hanamatsuri
Hanamatsuri Festival celebrates the birth of the historical Buddha  some 2,500 years ago in India, at Lumbini Garden.  Prince Siddhartha grows up to become Shakyamuni Buddha.
