Event Name: Buddhist Church of Lodi Annual Obon Bazaar
Buddhist Church of Lodi will celebrate Obon with plenty of great food, a Taiko performance, craft sales, and Bon Odori.� This is an annual Japanese festival commemorating one's ancestors.

Buddhist Church of Lodi will observe Obon with services, Bon Odori (dancing), and a bazaar-carnival at the annual Obon Festival during the weekend.� In Japan, Obon evolved from the religious custom of honoring the deceased with memorial services.� During this time, comparable holidays are observed throughout the Buddhist world.� A special English service will be held with special guest speakers.� Hatsubon Service will be held in memory of those that have passed away since our last Obon.

Obon / Bazaar Carnival Description
The bazaar-carnival will be held from during the weekend.� This event will feature many games for the young and old.� This year's raffle will offer many prizes, including the grand prize. We will have handicrafts and farm fresh produce at bargain prices.� Delicious Japanese food like beef and chicken teriyaki, sushi, udon (Japanese noodles), won ton, chow mein, corn, teriburgers, oriental chicken salad, Okinawa Dango (donuts), Imagawa Yaki (Sweet bean dessert), oden, soft drinks, snow cones and other treats will be available.

Obon Dance / Bon Odori or Folk Dance
The traditional Obon bon odori dance which expresses joy for the teachings offered by the Buddha will be performed with an intermission.� The movements depict the livelihood of the villagers such as fishermen, coal miners, and farmers.� Your participation with the other dancers is appreciated, the public is welcome to join.
